Day 1: Air travel to Iceland
Day 2: Thingvellir Natl. Park
Arrival Keflavik Airport (KEF). Drive to Thingvellir Natl. Park. Then drive to our overnight accommodations, in Laugarbraut. Check out and/or photograph Geyser and Gulfoss.
Day 3: Skogafoss/Vik area
Check out of apartment before sunrise. Sunrise photography at Gulfoss. Drive to hotel west of Vik via Road 30 to Hwy. 1. Stop at Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss on the way to Vik. Visit and photograph in the Vik area including black sand beach and sea stacks at Reynis and Dyrholaey. Possible return to Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss.
Days 4-5: Jokulsarlon area
Sunrise visiting the Vik area. Drive to Guesthouse close to Jokulsarlon. Stop at Fjardargljufur canyon. Explore and photograph area including Fjallsarlon Glacial Lagoon, Skaftafell Natl. Park and Svartifoss, Jokulsarlon Glacial Lagoon and black sand beach with ice bergs. Drive to Hofn and photograph Vesturhorn from Stokksnes.
Day 6-7: Northeast and northern Iceland
After sunrise at Jokulsarlon drive to Laugar (between Lake Myvatn and Godafoss) in the northern part of Iceland. Hike to Litlanesfoss (waterfall with interesting basalt columns, near Hengifoss).
During the next two days visit the areas around Lake Myvatn, Godafoss, Dettifoss, Selfoss, Dimmuborgir, and possibly Aldeyarfoss. Look for possible northern lights
Day 8: Snaefellsnes Peninsula
In the morning, we will drive visit Godafoss for sunrise, then drive to Grundarfjordur on the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. Photograph Kirkjufellsfoss and Kirkjufell, the coastline, and the interior. Drive around and across the peninsula.
