Day 1:
Guests will arrive at Ivato International airport and be transferred to your hotel.
Day 2:
Guests travel 4 hours East to Perronet where lunch will be provided. Time allowing, an introductory walk through the forest may be had.
Day 3:
Visit the Mantadia National Park just 25km North of the hotel. See the Diademed Sifaka, black and white ruffed lemurs, and indri-indri as you enjoy the primary forest. Enjoy a picnic for lunch and a night walk to see Goodman’s mouse lemurs, leaf-tailed geckos, and easter wooly lemurs.
Day 4:
Spending the day visiting the Andasibe-Analamazaotra national park, also known as the special reserve of the indri-indri. Guests will have lunch in Andasibe and may take a second night walk in the forest.
Day 5:
This is the last day to visit Andasibe-Analamazaotra national park. Lunch again is held in Andasibe. For those guests who would like to interact with the lemurs and are interested in great photography opportunities, an optional afternoon trip to Vakona island lemurs sanctuary may be taken.
Day 6:
We will depart very early in the morning driving to Antsirabe town which is located in Southernmost Tana. It is around 9 hours of driving from Perinet. The town is very popular because of its hot springs. Lunch will be had en route to Antsirabe town.
Day 7:
The group will continue South for around 6 hours of driving along the beautiful highlands. Lunch is provided at the second largest city on the island, Fianarantsoa. Afterwards, guests will continue to Ambalavao. If there is time, we may have an introductory walk in the park.
Day 8:
We will explore Anja Park where we can see the iconic ring-tailed lemurs. This park is the best in the region for spotting these lemurs as it is a very small park managed by the local Betsileo community. Lunch will be held in the afternoon and then we will spend time visiting the park.
Day 9:
An early morning start to go back to the park will provide guests the opportunity to see the ring-tailed lemurs waking up and emerging from the caves to sunbathe on the rocks. Afterwards, we will return to the lodge for breakfast. Soon after we will depart back to Fianarantsoa and take a flight West to Morondava airport. Here, we will be met by drivers and start our journey to Kirindy forest. Along the way we will stop at the famous Baobab Alley where we will take a break and have time to take photos. Next, we will resume our drive to Kirindy (about 3 hours more).
Day 10:
Today we will be looking to see the largest predator in Madagascar, the Fosa. While we search for this animal we will also be able to see many lemurs including: the Verreaux’s Sifaka (dancing lemurs), and the Ruffous brown lemurs. Lunch will be held in the Kirindy forest, and a night walk will hopefully allow guests the opportunity to see the smallest mouse lemur on the island.
Day 11:
Following breakfast, we will drive 10 hours to Bekopaka town. Along the way we will cross 2 rivers with local ferries.
Day 12:
With an early morning start, guests have the opportunity to visit the Tsingy of Bemaraha National Park. The park is a prime location to see the Decken’s Sifaka and Ruffous brown lemurs. A lunch picnic at the park will be followed by opportunities to spend time among the lemurs. This walk through park will be a more moderate to difficult grade and will need to be done more slowly.
Day 13:
The morning will provide another chance to see the lemurs. Lunch will be at the hotel, and the afternoon will provide guests with the chance to canoe along the beautiful gorge of the Manambolo river.
Day 14:
In the mornings guests will drive 2.5 hours to Amborodia’s airport where we will fly up to Mahajanga. Lunch will be had on the way.
Day 15:
Spend the day in the forest of Ankarafantsika. This deciduous forest is a great place to see the Coquerel’s sifaka, common brown lemurs, and Mangooz lemurs, and bird species like the Madagascar fish eagle. A night walk to search for the gray mouse lemur and sportive lemur will conclude the night.
Day 16:
Spend the morning in the forest, and take a boat ride along Ravedlobe lake while looking for birds and small wildlife.
Day 17:
Following breakfast we will depart to Antananarivo on National Road number 4 driving 8 hours. Lunch will be along the way.
Day 18:
On this final day you will be transferred to the airport for your return flight home.
